I would love to draw Aquaman. A Kirby project would be incredible. The Eternals was a big influence on my work.

I’d never thought of Big Barda. Hm. Sgt Rock? Hm. Hadn’t thought of that, either.

Not that I’m some lazy bum taking the elevator to the 2nd floor – our office building, as a security measure, doesn’t have a flight of stairs going from the ground level to the first or the second floor except for the fire exit (gotta love govt. buildings).

I’d say Kirby’s Fourth World would be interesting under your interpretation, Colleen. There’s only one Jack Kirby, but still would be fun to see. Not that I’m trying to pigeonhole you!

I’ve gone off on the wrong floor in my office building a few times, that and taken the wrong turn when I get out of the elevator. Sometimes it’s just one of those days and other times it’s due to an attractive woman being in the same elevator and I forget what floor to go to (2nd floor). Yeah, yeah, blaming women good excuse! 😛

The characters I’d really like to see you draw are Kirby’s Eternals — but they’re not DC.

At DC, Aquaman and the Legion are obviously givens. I think you’d do a great Superman, and you should get another crack at Wonder Woman. Dr Fate would be good, with all the Egyptian-influenced iconology. And I might kill for a Colleen Doran Big Barda mini-series.

But, if I was gonna give you a real challenge, I’d love to see your takes on characters like Sgt Rock and Jonah Hex — your love of research and detail would really shine.

I have to say there are any number of characters I’d prefer to see you do (as it were… ) than Batman. He’d be pretty far down the list actually.

In answer to an email: If I work for DC Comics, it is empirical evidence that I am a sell-out who will work for a company even when it discriminates against women. If I don’t work for DC Comics, it is empirical evidence that DC Comics discriminates against women.

Pick whatever circumstance best fits your ideological bent.

I’m wondering when someone is going to request that Grant Morrison, Neil Gaiman, Alex Ross, and Mark Waid stop working for DC Comics.
