A Distant Soil by Colleen Doran

This was painted for an official New Line sponsored event, with prints made to give away at Ringcon in Germany. The original art was sold some years ago. I’m afraid I do not have a scan of the original. The disc returned to me by the manufacturer was defective, so if the owner of this piece would be willing to let me have the art for scanning, I’d appreciate it.

“Gimli’s Gift” refers to a scene in the Lord of the Rings novels which does not appear in the films. Gimli is deeply moved by his experiences in Lothlorien and his introduction to Galadriel.

His gift to is Legolas the wonder of the dwarvish world, the spectacular, crystal encrusted caves of Aglarond.
