I’ve gotten a few very nice notes from folks who donated to the website and got cool stuff. I’ve tried to make sure everybody got good quality books and coolectibles. This isn’t a junk sale. I am sincere when I say I want to move some really good quality things along to folks who will enjoy them, because I want to raise more A Distant Soil cash, and to clean out my storage.
My goodies arrived! I near about fell over when I saw Chieko Hosokawa–it is my undying wish that Oke no Monshou finds its way to the shores of America translated. And I finally got a copy of Scenes from a Small Press with you! Its been on my wishlist for a while yet! And a ADS tote! ::snuggles tote:: not to mention the you higuri artbook which I shall hide from my friend Liz because its the one she’s wanted forever now… I wish my camera worked so I could take a picture–but thank you!

I have more manga and more art books, so if anyone wants to hit the tip jar and grab some goodies, do so.
And I would LOVE to see Oke no Monshou in English. I despair that so many of the manga translations are high school dramas. I like a good high school drama as much as the next person, but some classic manga are getting ignored while the market gets flooded with substandard contemporary drama.
Your box arrived today! The Phaidon book is so gorgeous and luscious; and I can’t wait to read M. And 1602 was an awesome surprise! (I’ve never actually read it. Don’t tell Neil.) The Victoria issues look cool, too… Oh man! So much cool stuff!
Seriously, thank you. This is way beyond cool of you to do.

What to read first?!

I am an avid Victoria magazine collector, and have had to buy some in quantity in order to get some missing issues. I am happy to pass along the extras.
And those Phaidon Press books are always a treat. I enjoyed the Caravaggio book, but realized I had not used it in years. It’s such a gorgeous book. I am glad to pass it along!
The books came today and they are awesome! Just flipped through the Japanese print book; that will take a sit down and read afternoon. But the manga books are just what I was hoping for, not “how to draw” but how to create a work. I know how to write a story, but translating a story into words and pictures? Still working on that one. These will help immensely! Thanks!

Most welcome! Yes, I have more and have set aside a few for you.
Also, if there are costumers or crafters out there I have:
A LONG string of faux pearls on a skein. Great for costumes or decorations. About 10 feet long or more.
Very beautiful lengths of hand croched lace. Made by my mum. Perfect condition, would make excellent costume trim. Entirely hand crafted. Natural fiber.
A small quantity of lavender sachets. Organically grown lavender from my farm, in handsome gossamer or velvet bags.
A small skein of machine made crocheted lace, polyester fiber. Nice for costume trim.
I may have more costumey goods, so if you are interested in this sort of thing, sing out. Happy to pass it along.
