I’m now going a week or more without blogging, and with my work schedule these days, there’s not a lot to be done about that.
I was up until one AM polishing off cover art for Irish Echo magazine’s St Patrick’s Day edition, which will feature a preview of Gone to Amerikay. Quite nice to do this.
I still have a handful of packages to send off, as well as some commissions to finish off between all my assignments. The last of the book orders will ship within a week.
Here’s a few interesting links:
An article about the murder of a group of Irish immigrants in the 19th century, finally getting a decent burial.
Author Jonathan Franzen disses Edith Wharton. I have nothing nice to say about this dude.
Among his assertions: that she was ugly, which didn’t cause her marriage to be sexless, but probably didn’t help; that Lily Bart is the opposite—beautiful—but a “party girl” whom Wharton punishes for her looks; that the central problem in reading Wharton is how to grudgingly “get over” her cosseted, wealthy existence as she swans around European hotels.
Someone really didn’t get the point.
Civil War sailers found at bottom of sea get facial reconstruction. Very nifty article.
