This is great!
For what it’s worth, folk from Princeton, Yale, and Harvard all really do act like that when you ask where they went to school; “Oh, it’s in New England”….”If you insist, it was in Connecticut”…’About an hour and a half from New York”…Heck, there was even an article in yesterday’s Boston Globe focusing on Harvardians’ inability to say where they went; http://articles.boston.com/2012-05-28/news/31878568_1_h-bomb-harvard-grads-harvard-yard
The other amusing bit is that Penn and Princeton are semi-rivals; Penn considers Princeton much more a rival than vice versa (Princeton tries to break into the Harvard-Yale rivalry, where it’s each school’s second main rival (save for when MIT hacks the Harvard-Yale Game)). Penn though, has a major case of Harvard/Yale envy; the school colors are Harvard crimson and Yale blue. Harvard and Yale are prominently mentioned in the fight song. And when they wanted to institute new, smaller and more intimate living arrangements, Penn called them “college houses” to Yale’s residential colleges and Harvard’s houses.
(Penn and Yale alum, accepted at Princeton, all the smart way; for grad school where they paid my tuition and gave me a stipend)
Aaaah. I went to the University of Washington. *sniffle*
