A devoted fan of my work has spent years writing her own sequel to Les Miserables. She’s had a rough go of it. Though she has won awards for her writing, we all know that ability and success do not always go hand in hand.
I don’t usually go out on a limb like this, and I don’t even know the author that well, having only met her a few times. But no one understands how important a personal work can be more than I do: to get it out there, to find an audience, to get it finished at any cost.
This sequel to Les Miserables, entitled Pont-au-Change, is now on kickstarter raising some dough. With three weeks left, the modest sum remaining is only $1700. To help out, I’ve created this portrait of Javert which will be available as a print as an incentive when you pledge at the $24 level. Check out the updates pages for info.

This is a Very Cool thing for you to do, Collen!
Thanks. Arlene has a lot of challenges, and has been working on this for a long time. I sympathize!
Oh yes, I will be karmically paying this back for a long time. I cannot thank Colleen enough for volunteering this print to my “little” project.
It’s gonna be great. Al says, ” Don’t ask, just support it!”
Beautiful work.
