Meet the founders of the feast, turkeys from a small local farm owned by Daniel and Emily. They raise a few dozen turkeys a year.
Free range, they don’t have as much breast meat as you might expect, but they have superior taste.
They’ve been known to hang with a dicey crowd: wild turkeys who wander in from the woods.
They follow you around hoping you’ll give them a treat when you drop by for a visit.
Showy American peacocks. Ben Franklin wanted the turkey to be the national bird.
They are very curious, and the flock surrounds me while I play stick fetch with the dog.
Here Daniel and my mom negotiate territory with the birds. You don’t want to piss them off, because they can do you a lot of damage if they get angry.
Thank you turkeys for your noble sacrifice this Thanksgiving!

Less breast meat wouldn’t be a drawback for me – I could happily eat nothing but the dark.
I could gnaw me a drumstick.
BTW, we haven’t eaten yet, won’t eat for hours. And we have a wee one in the house with w big fever! But happy family nonetheless. Have a great day!
