Gone to Amerikay is a graphic novel about Irish immigration and a mystery surrounding one young family’s American dream, over three generations. Written by Derek McCulloch, with art by me and colors by Jose Villarubia, published by Vertigo, we received excellent notices on the book from many different sources.

Writer Derek McCulloch was inspired by a song by the Irish group The Pogues, and music weaves its way through the subtext of the book in powerful, and sometimes very subtle ways.

Derek has written a series of essays about those songs on his Facebook page.

The essays were adapted from his larger article at LargeHearted Boy.
