• THE CLOCK!

Coming in January, by Matt Hawkins who, in my humble opinion has the best mind for science fiction in comics, with art by me! THE CLOCK! Long delayed (mostly by me, I love the irony of the title of the book and my feet dragging on the schedule) finally on the roster and available for preorder, and please do so now so your comic retailer will have those copies for you! Many lovely words and preorder recommendations from multiple websites including SYFY and more, please do ask for it at your comic retailer NOW! In The Clock, within three weeks, hundreds of millions of healthy people worldwide contract various forms…

  • New York Comic Con!

Hi everyone! While I’m doing most of my posting at my Patreon page, I haven’t stopped working on A DISTANT SOIL and will be featuring it at my New York Comic Con appearance coming up in October. I’ll have FREE swag with every A DISTANT SOIL graphic novel purchase, discounts on graphic novel sales, and extras for my Patreon supporters, including the 10% discount for every Patreon member! Patreon supporters also get free swag, no purchase necessary! So please stop by my Artist Alley booth J-4, very close to the entrance, and come get your goodies! Since this will be my last personal appearance for awhile, I want to make…

  • Seren

As most of you know, I am putting all my effort into new work and much of that is featured on my Patreon. When I am finished with (most) of what is on my plate for other publishers in March (ish) A DISTANT SOIL becomes my primary assignment again for the first time in 5 years. I cannot tell you how excited I am and grateful to my Patreon supporters for making this possible! I have a major announcement coming in about a week as well. This portrait of Seren was drawn as an incentive for a Patreon supporter.

  • Jessica

Found quite a lot of A DISTANT SOIL drawings during my big studio cleanup in April, like this pretty sketch of Jessica. I have a new computer set up: my old system was so old I could no longer access this website. While I continue to do most of my blogging at my Patreon, and new pages of A DISTANT SOIL are going up there before anywhere else, I’ll be adding art here periodically. Thanks for stopping by.

  • The Aeren Shrine

Aeren’s portrait in a jewel encrusted frame next to a bowl of glowing crystals, and some fresh picked lily of the valley! It’s not just a pretty picture, I’m testing this post to make sure the updates on the site are working. My graphics computer, which needs an older OS to operate my stuff, cannot upgrade to the newer browsers, and the old browsers do not support this website. What a bother. The computer I am working on now is on its last legs, so it is time to buy a new one. Oy. I have a PATREON page and will be selling some art over the next couple of…

  • BAST

Private commission for a Patreon supporter. Patreon supporters at top levels get one character portrait per year. I am also posting pages of A DISTANT SOIL at the Patreon as they are completed. Of course, Bast has dark skin but I do not apply tone sheets to commissions.

  • Aeren

This colored pencil portrait of Aeren dates from 2001. I think the features are a bit off, but hey, that pic is totes hair band. I haven’t been updating here very much as I am putting most of my effort into the Patreon site and trying to catch up on work. I got the flu in January, and that cost me a lot more time than I thought it would. I’m happy to report I continue to do much better after getting my new treatment for Hashimoto’s Disease, but it’s a roller coaster and not a mountain with a peak. A major issue for me is sugar intolerance, so limiting…

  • A Distant Soil Cast

This was a pinup done for the new graphic novel editions. If you’re trying to read the whole series here, I’ve got about 400 pages up, then I found out the site could not handle anything at high res. While I’ve reloaded many of the pages, if you get to a page that freezes, please contact me. I don’t know when I’ll get around to loading the entire series, but I appreciate your stopping in to have a look at this big chunk. Loading pages is time consuming, and I’m trying to concentrate on moving forward for now. I haven’t been updating here much. I’m putting most of my time…
