The joys of parenthood. Sheesh. You know they sound like me and my siblings when we were younger only there was five of us and one of my brother’s had a really nasty temper. We love the mullets! They fluffy! I miss the Selwits though. I do wonder how Seren would have reacted to this. Hmm….speaking of….Wonder what happened with him when Liana had her little hiccup in her powers. Kovar would not be happy if the baby Avatar nearly got done in by a pot roast.

Well, that little tidbit explains Jason a bit more — the last of his siblings to develop his powers, including his baby sister. And a bit bratty all along. But loved by his father, even so.

The twins seem very pragmatic. Once the main fuss is over, straight to the topic of dinner. Pepperoni pizza! 🙂

Shaggy little RabidEwok LIKES the hair!

Family life on Earth probably beats what Aeren was facing had he stayed on Ovanan or the Siovansin. Or what Jason and Liana have had to endure once the family was gone.

Speaking of little, Jessica looks to be Hobbit or Ewok size herself. Take away her heels and the inches the hair adds and she maybe comes up to Aeren’s chin, and more likely his shoulder. Of course Ovanan tend to be tall………………..

Was there, is there, will there be a 5th child of Aeren and Jessica? I remember Rieken mentioning it in the first version ADS from decades ago. Something about Aeren fathering 5 children on Earth and 2 of them being alive at the time the story started. I didn’t see it in either of my copies of Gathering though. Not the current one or the older Gathering.

It is taunting, yes. But I admit I am enjoying contemplating the possibilities. Is the apparent 5th child older than the twins? Off with friends or out on a date? Shipped off to boarding school? Younger than Liana, still an infant and currently sound asleep in a crib? Ooh! Does Jessica have a bun in the oven? Is Child 5 as yet merely a sparkle in Aeren and Jessica’s eyes in an earlier scene? Maybe the 5th child was given to another family at birth to protect him/her in some way. Is Jessica even the mother? Perhaps Aeren fathered a child with a different Earthling woman!

Is that YOU in the thumbnail pic, RabidEwok? Woah, you’re MY kinda Ewok! 😀 And what an interesting idea – Aeren spreading his net wider that Jessica. I think that would have been before he met up her, he does seem like a good and faithful man, to me. Mind you – our Colleen IS in charge – Mistress of the Bombshell storylines.
And now we know – there may be more semi-demi-hemi Ovanans amongst us….just how long have they vacationed on earth? ;-D

  • RabidEwok

Yes, that’s me in the thumbnail pic. 🙂 Taken earlier this month in front of the iris and the beach rose.

In my head, IF the 5th child Aeren fathered was with someone besides Jessica,it would have been before Jessica and Aeren met. An older half sibling for the twins, Jason, and Liana. That by itself is interesting. Imagine the legally adult older half sibling showing up at the Institute with the cops, several lawyers, State of VA child protection workers, Guardianship papers, and a few cease and desist orders! The cops would have warrants for Dr. Martin’s arrest for child abuse of course! Plus all the other crimes he and his Institute employees committed against those kids and no doubt other patients in their “care” 😀

I also wonder if their are more Ovanan exiles on Earth besides Bast and Aeren. IIRC, Earth was one of the sanctuary worlds that Rieken located for Ovanans to relocate to. Bast and the other Ovanan she arrived with seemed to have wound up here what looked like to be thousands of years ago by accident. But others might have come here on purpose.

Well if they live a long time and are cunning like Bast then perhaps there’s some around. Could explain why some people can actually do things with their minds. Perhaps maybe that’s why they started killing Variants. Perhaps they realized that the Variants they sent to Earth were getting to be too powerful and smart and not to mention if they were breeding they could probably pose a threat if they formed an army. Perhaps at some point that was a very real fear and instead of banishing them like they did before they began executing them to avoid anyone strong enough to stand against them

As I recall, we got some of this backstory when we met Bast. Memory is a little fuzzy, but Bast and Seth weren’t the only exiles. There was one beautiful beautiful page showing ten or so exiled Ovanans(?), dressed in Roman centurion gear, kimonos, etc. “The weak did not survive… the last we heard through our failing transmitters was that our kind were no longer to be exiled, but executed.” Perhaps someone with that page could give a more accurate quote!

That page was just gorgeous. One of my favourites.
