This is one of the creepiest scenes in the series, but it has some of my favorite work. All details and patterns are drawn by hand.

Tone sheets tend to print better using the old photographic processes, and all pages in volumes I and II of A Distant Soil were shot on negatives. Quebecor, our printer, did a particularly good job on volume II.

    ah yes. The hierarchy don’t just use everyone else. They use one another, perhaps even more. The higher you are, the better grade tool you are. And if I remember one of my favorite quotes from the Thieves’ World GNs well enough, there are only two uses for tools: to be used, or to be hung up.

    Which is my long winded way of saying I love the scenes with Merai. Opens eyes and brains and hearts at the same time…
