A DISTANT SOIL: The Gathering Chapter 11 Page 11

There is no comic for September 9 due to the weeklong site blackout. Really sorry. The site seems to be back up and running, thanks to DC McQueen.

I can’t believe I drew this page 20 years ago. Good grief.

And behold, my art on ebay calls you. Some unusual offerings include art from She-Ra, Creepy, Sandman, and Swords of the Swashbucklers! CLICK ME!

I thank you, and my debt ratio thanks you.

And holy cow, the world just spun on its axis: Paul Levitz is no longer the publisher of DC Comics. Now he “…will segue from that role to return to his roots as a writer for DC and become a contributing editor and overall consultant to DCE.”

Does this mean Paul will return to The Legion of Superheroes? With me and Keith Giffen? That would be totally awesome. I miss Element Lad. Someone just posted that Paul will be writing Adventure Comics! Wow, I feel 12 years old.

Too much excitement for one day. Must get smelling salts.

Interesting… today’s artwork seems to comment on the changes at DC…

I concur… Levitz, Giffen, Doran, and Berger on Adventure would be cool.

Ooh… I know you have enough work, Ms. Doran, but howabout a retro Superboy in Smallville story featuring Mr. Arrah/Janson as a chemistry teacher? Perhaps a Brave and the Bold one-shot?

LOL! Yeah, this page represents the comic industry nuclear option!

And I am totally digging the Superboy story thang. I hope they let me draw the Legion again. Yeah, I am busy, but in six months, I need work. Might as well sign me up now.

btw congrats Colleen! If memory serves, this page is only a few away from being the last of the Starblaze material, and after that, it’s on to the Aria Press stuff!

You are correct, ma’am! And as silly as it sounds, it gives me a little thrill.

I thought the new material was a bit rough for about ten or so pages. I made the switch from drawing normal comic size originals to manga size. And also doing my own lettering. It took me awhile to get the hang of it.

As it turns out, he IS returning to the Legion. Didio announced it earlier today. He’s the new writer of Adventure Comics, which is the current incarnation of the Legion.
