My thinking for D’mer in this scene is that he would not be that broken up ( on a personal level, anyway) over deaths in Seren’s house because he’s not that close to the rest of the staff. He deliberately distances himself, and most of them don’t approve of him anyway.

Makes sense to me. But I can’t think that the Major appreciates the schooling from D’mer, even if he’s right.

D’mer is his personal bodyguard and lover. The rest of the staff are just that, staff. He doesn’t have to have a relationship with any of them, not even Kovar. But still, that many dead and needing to be replace, poor Seren.
