I’ve always loved this page. The storytelling is perfect. Chilling and poignant, and this was my first inkling that the real villain of the piece is not Sere, who is just an overgrown child who likes to pull the wings off flies (as it were).

    Thank you.

I think the book started to work around issue #12. Over the first 180 pages, there was always so much external mess to worry about, it had a negative effect on the work.

But I began to relax and really enjoy the book in issue 12. I had more time to invest in each page.

I think the art is a bit weak in issue 12 because I started doing my own lettering, and I had begun to work at a very small original art size – almost manga sized. I didn’t quite have the hang of it.

I was surprised at how quickly this original art went. I did not have any of these originals when scanning to post here. However, the scanner seems to have gotten good quality shots from the book.

Looking back over the series, this is among my favorite sequences. I think it’s a good balance of negative space and detail, and the pacing is about right.

There are some sequences where there is too much detail or too little, too many panels, too few, yadda, yadda. Can’t say as I would have changed much here, except, once again, I’d rather be a better letterer!
