D’mer

This is one of my earliest attempts at digital color. I tested myself on many of my old drawings, such as this one dated 1989. But I really didn’t understand much about layers, saving files, etc, so many of my pieces were not saved at proper resolution. This one is at a decent resolution, and could be used for print, if need be.

    He’s stylin’.

BTW, there is an hilarious new spambot that is taking comments from geeky sites (like mine) and then reposting them as comments on completely unrelated posts. So I woke up this morning to a ton of comments all over the site about Dr Who, and even some of my own comments posted in weird places. It was pretty funny.

Wait! Whut? I thought D’Mer wasn’t very fond of Selwits. Doesn’t he consider them his home world’s version of rats and pigeons? Or Ewoks to most Star Wars fans? Silly boy’s been holding out on us! I mean, I know that Kovar has a soft spot for cute cuddly but annoying creatures, but I didn’t realize D’Mer has it in him. Unless we are talking about Seren. Or Liana, in a kid sister kind of a way!

D’mer is like my dad. He hates animals in the house. Snarls about it. No pets. Gets around pet. Growls at it. It comes over. He lets it nuzzle. Then he scratches it. Then it purrs. Then Dad says he’s going to kill it. Then he pets it for two hours. Feeds it treats. Then the animals saunters away. Then dad growls and says he hates animals. Then he goes out and buys treats. Keeps them for feeding the animals he says he doesn’t want.

Haha! Sounds like the animals around your Dad have all read “The Silent Miaow: A Manual for Kittens, Strays, and Homeless Cats” by Paul Gallico! It’s a self-help book for cats on how to go about getting humans to take you in, give you a home, love you, and worship the ground you walk on. Published in 1985. I first read it when I was still in high school. It’s a hoot if you can find a copy. Apparently it was also published on Ovanan and Kimar!

Selwits, like cats, know how-ta’ get under our skins–

And stay there, like an itch we can’t scratch….

    Not that we want to!

(Puppies do that , too, but unlike the former, they don’t know that they’re doin’ it–*wink*)

I really like the engraving look to this piece. Different from your present, “softer”, style, but still beautiful!
